Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits

Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits

You head to your favorite search engine to help you figure out where to go so that you can get something to eat, right? Welcome to our past situation in Mentor, OH. We took to our phones and searched best restaurants in Mentor, OH and a list popped up. We clicked on Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits, checked out the menu, and decided to go. We love random adventures like this, and we especially love when they turn out the way this one did. We’re so excited to say that we have a new go-to restaurant in the Mentor area and we can’t wait to tell you all about it! Read on!

Property Description:

Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits truly has two distinct feels to it. When you come into the entrance, it feels like a high end bar. There is a massive bar lining the wall to your right, and high top tables to your left as you walk towards the back of the restaurant. When you reach the back, there is a set of doors to open that go out onto the patio.

The patio is where we spent most of our time at Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits. We really, really enjoyed being on the patio. It’s tastefully decorated, covered with a cool roof, and massive. It’s not a small area, expect to see several tables.

This is only part of the upper level, and there is a lot more seating to the right

Men’s restrooms are located in the back of the restaurant, and women’s restrooms are located at the front of the restaurant.

What to Do:

This is a great stop if you’re looking for bars in Mentor, OH. We like that this bar allows you to be indoors or outdoors, and in each setting you feel comfortable and can pleasantly enjoy your food.

Speaking of food, Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits has some wonderful dishes. The menu is plentiful, with options for everyone. We had someone with us who wanted gluten free and ordered the Rustic Zucchini Putanesca, which is sauteed zucchini noodles, roasted tomatoes, eggplant, olives, capers, fennel sauce, fresh basil, and shaved Parmesan cheese. Although we didn’t try it ourselves, we were told it was really, really good.

We also ordered a Summer Salad, Chicken Tacos, Short Rib Tacos, and a Grilled Cheese and French Fries from the Kids Menu. All menu items were super yummy; even the grilled cheese! The littles ate all but one bite, and that’s only because it looked so good and we wanted to try it!

We ate outside, and were surprised to find a different type of ordering system on the tables. You simply scan the QR code on the sign with the camera on your phone, and you will be taken directly to the menu. You can order and pay straight from your phone, all in one step. In the era that we’ve living in, the less we have to pass things back and forth the better, and we can’t help but love paperless options!

Even though we had a paperless and less personal ordering experience (which was wonderful, by the way), we had exceptional service from those who work at Ridgewood Kitchen and Spirits. Everyone working there during our visit was very friendly, and checked on us several times. Even though we didn’t have anyone personally take our order, we did have a very attentive server; there was never an empty glass on the table and we were asked several times if we needed anything. Again, we don’t provide reviews on this site, but we felt that this was something we had to mention considering the paperless and online ordering experience.

Also, although we didn’t get to experience it personally, our server told us they have live music on the patio frequently! This definitely gives us a great reason to come back, even if we aren’t planning on being in Mentor for another reason! If you’re interested in checking out their live music dates, go to their website and click Entertainment,

Who Can Go:

Anyone can come to this restaurant and bar in Mentor, OH. We brought our littles, and they did great here. The outside atmosphere was refreshing for all of us. We also love that the area is super accessible, making it very easy to get a stroller or a wheelchair through to your table.

Final Thoughts:

Keeping in mind that we knew nothing about this restaurant before we entered, I think it far exceeded what we were looking for in grabbing a bite to eat before we hit the road.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, we were pleased with our visit to this shopping center in Beachwood, OH. We did, however, see quite a few empty storefronts available for rent. Hopefully these will repopulate soon, as this is a beautiful shopping, dining, and lifestyle center that many used to frequent pre-pandemic.

BOMBA Taco + Bar

BOMBA Taco+ Bar

Wandering Beyond Erie! A trip out to Cleveland (and an empty stomach) led us to a great taco place in Beachwood, OH! BOMBA offers premium casual tacos with the flavors of Cuba, Central & South America and the Caribbean.

Entrance and view from outside

Location:

There are currently four different locations, but the BOMBA we visited is located at 2101 Richmond Road, Beachwood, OH 44122. Check out their website for other locations of their restaurant in the Cleveland area, and even one in PA, and another coming to PA!

Some seating and indoor environment

Property Description:

This restaurant is set up as such, a dining room with tables seated by a host or hostess, and several tables outside as well. There is a rather large bar to the left that you will see when you walk in. It has a really fun and colorful atmosphere, and transports you with it’s vividness as you dine.

Bar area

What to Do:

Eat, drink, and have fun at this premium taco place in Cleveland! Check out their differing selection of tacos; there has to be at least one you’re interested in trying! The menu provides a wonderful variety of choices for those who have dietary restrictions in your group.

We would recommend getting an appetizer, the Brazilian Cheesy Bread with chipotle honey was our starter of choice. We promise we aren’t affiliated or endorsing, but we LOVE these little balls of goodness!

Brazilian Cheesy Bread

As for tacos, they recommend 3-4 tacos per person if you are just ordering a la carte. The tacos are really great, and some can be more filling then others. The options are vast, from seafood to meat to vegetarian, and if you’re looking for a vegan and gluten free restaurant in Cleveland, we love that they offer vegan and gluten free choices. The “Crunchy Hippie” is shown below as the taco with tomatoes and avocado on the plate with adobo fries; it is already vegan and can be made gluten free as well if you ask for the corn tortillas, we did not.

They have more than just tacos, with a good sized menu with some delicious offerings.

Check out the menu!

Their menu features a variety of spirited drinks and cocktails, including margarita carafes, so the whole table can share! We only had water and lemonade at our table, but one of the kids did tell our waitress “this water is delicious” if that might help you make your own drink decision.

Who Can Go:

Anyone can come enjoy the food at BOMBA Tacos + Bar. They offer high chairs for the little ones (or you can stroll on in and set your stroller at a table outside) and they have proper accessible accommodations.

Sitting outside and looking inside

Final Thoughts:

BOMBA in Beachwood is a restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere inside or outside and has delicious food. It’s kid friendly and provides a great place for family fun in Cleveland, but it’s also fun for friend groups, allowing you and your party to let loose a bit while enjoying the vast offerings of alcohol. We also highly recommend this location if you’re planning a date night in Cleveland.

Nervous Dog Coffee Bar (Cleveland)

Nervous Dog Coffee Bar (Cleveland, OH)

Wandering Beyond Erie! If you’re looking for a great coffee shop in Cleveland, OH, the Nervous Dog Coffee Bar is an excellent choice! The Nervous Dog Coffee Bar is an independent small business in the Cleveland area, making the community their main priority.

Location:

The Nervous Dog Coffee Bar has four different locations, but the one we visited recently is located in LaPlace Center, 2101 Richmond Road, Beachwood, OH 44122.

Property Description:

This is a coffee shop, so it is set up just as so. There are two different entrances, one from inside LaPlace and one from the outside, which boasts a lovely outdoor seating area in the vicinity.

A couch and chairs greet you to relax in upon the entrance from the outdoors, and then a few high tables. If you continue walking forward, you will reach the end of the counter, where you pick up your drinks. The counter continues on, and there you will find the ordering spot and register, along with some bakery items behind glass. There is also a wall of different types of coffee beans, which we actually found really cool to admire.

There is also seating inside of LaPlace, lining the coffee shop indoors. The tables are really funky, and the kids enjoyed sitting here.

Things to Do:

This is a coffee shop, so inside you can enjoy any coffee, tea, lattes, and treats of your choosing. The menu is pretty impressive, with some food available to go with your drink of choice. They serve breakfast and lunch, offering quite a few choices to satisfy your hunger.

This is a rather quaint space inside, with a great ambiance for doing work or if you’re looking for places to study in the Cleveland area.

Who Can Go:

Anyone is welcome here. I don’t think I would keep kids inside of the actual coffee shop to enjoy your drinks and treats, but the outdoor space and the tables in LaPlace are great options to take your food to. We enjoyed our coffee inside of LaPlace.

This is a great place for college students to come relax and study, but also a great place to meet with friends for coffee and lunch. It also makes for a great coffee date. And with two seating areas, you can choose your atmosphere. Not only were some students doing what appeared to be schoolwork, but it also looked like a great place to have a meeting, as some individuals were holding what appeared to be physical meetings, and another one was on a video conference. This isn’t meant for us to sound like we were snooping, but rather that the internet must be good enough to hold virtual calls!

Final Thoughts:

We really enjoyed this coffee shop and café. Although we didn’t purchase much food on this trip in particular as this wasn’t our first time patronizing The Nervous Dog, we can tell you that we have eaten a full meal there before and enjoyed every bite. In addition, this shop is close to many other places including grocery stores, hospital/medical center, and a shopping mall, so it’s certainly something you can pop into for a quick bit and drink even if you have another destination in mind!

The ambiance of the café and the smells inside are enough to put you at ease upon entrance. If you’re looking for a coffee shop in Cleveland, stop by The Nervous Dog and enjoy it for yourself!
