Property Description:

This is an outdoor only ice cream stand; a perfect place to visit during those Spring and Summer Erie afternoons and evenings. You will walk up to the window to place your order, and you’ll see their extraordinary menu behind the glass surrounding the ordering windows. There are picnic tables provided in front of the stand that you can enjoy your treats at, or you can eat your food in the comfort of your car in the big parking lot to the side and behind the ice cream stand. There is ample parking here, and you could easily eat your food from the back of an SUV, in a truck bed, or even in your car with the door open.

They are open 12 p.m.-9 p.m. daily.

What to Do:

This is a perfect place to grab some soft serve ice cream, of course! This second location of Whippy Dip features many of the same amazing menu items as the original, so please check out this blog we did on the original Whippy Dip to see some of their food offerings. You can grab soft serve, Perry’s Ice Cream, milk shakes, sundaes, and even some savory favorites!

We were loving the blue moon and mint flavored soft serve. One of us got the mint oreo madness and it was the perfect combination of mint and oreo. Another one of us enjoyed the banana eclipse, which featured the blue moon soft serve.

Because we had the littles with us, we had to taste a few tried-and-true favorites. They enjoyed a watermelon slushie and a kids size blue moon ice cream cone.

We also got pretzels with cheese, which our whole family enjoyed!

Who Can Go:

Anyone can enjoy this ice cream stand in Erie, PA. Bring the kids, grandkids, or even your dogs. There are many businesses in the area, so Whippy Dip 2 would be a great place to stop for a treat after appointments or an afternoon shopping. Or, grab a treat and head to Presque Isle!

One feature we found really neat about this ice cream stand in Erie, PA is the Perry’s Ice Cream Bulk Allergen Chart that is posted right in the window. The chart will tell you every flavor of Perry’s ice cream, and if that flavor has peanuts, tree nuts, egg, wheat, soy, milk/dairy, or gluten in it. We think this is great for anyone with allergies, or anyone avoiding certain ingredients!

Final Thoughts:

Whippy Dip 2 features the same incredible menu as the original Whippy Dip, and satisfies not only the sweet tooth but also the savory tooth. If you’re on the west side at an appointment or running errands, this is a great stop to break up your day! If you’re looking for ice cream near Presque Isle, this is also a great place to swing by before or after a trip to the beach!

Godfrey Run Farm Market & Cider Mill

Godfrey Run Farm Market & Cider Mill

We’re loving all the Fall things right now! There’s something about a farmers market and cider mill combination that gives us the Fall feels, so we decided to check out Godfrey Run Farm Market and Cider Mill.

Location:

Godfrey Run Farm Market and Cider Mill is located at 8958 Westlake Road, Lake City, PA 16423. If you know where Mason Farms Farm Stand in Lake City is, Godfrey Run is just a tad bit further west from them.

Godfrey Run is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. These hours are observed in October of 2021.

Property Description:

Godfrey Run is a really great local food shop. The front porch adds such charm to the whole store, and makes you feel like you’re entering someone’s home instead of a market. On the porch, there are a few two top tables set up if you’d like to enjoy some of your food outside while you’re there.

There are also some picnic tables to the right of the building. There is also a great little hay and corn stalk display, and we’re sure if you wanted to take some photos by it, you absolutely could!

The inside has a general store feel, but with a lot going on! Your eyes will be pulled in several directions because of the many good items sold at this farmers market in Erie, PA.

Because one of their claim to fame’s is their apple cider, it smells like apple inside and trust us, that is not a bad thing! Your senses will be on overdrive as you walk in because there are so many yummy things to look at and smell!

What to Do:

While here, you’re definitely going to want to shop! Inside of the market you will find local produce, but mostly many different kinds of apples.

You’ll find several items to stock up your pantry while you’re looking around! They have a ton of different jarred foods; you can get relish, pickles, apple butter, peppers, salsa, and much more! With delicious items such as hummus dip, black licorice, and popcorn, you can stock up on snacks!

They also have Penn State Berkey Creamery Ice Cream for sale, and not just by the cup! They have several different flavors to choose from. You can get a pint or quart of ice cream during your visit, and you can also join a pint club! For $99, you can get 6 pints of ice cream per month for the months of October, November, and December. If you do decide to get some ice cream, you can enjoy it outside by sitting at one of their smaller tables on the patio or one of the picnic tables (to the right side of the building if you’re facing it).

One thing we were very surprised to find was a small wine tasting room with several bottles available for purchase! They also have hard cider!

Who Can Go:

Bring everyone to this farmers market in Lake City! We didn’t bring ours in, but we think it would be rather easy to maneuver a stroller or a wheelchair. The floors are cement, so it’s a very easy surface to push anything with wheels on.

Final Thoughts:

We really enjoyed our trip to Godfery Run in Lake City, PA! Shopping local is so important, and here you will find a variety of things to add to your kitchen stash! Whether you’re looking for apples and other produce, jarred jams and butters, ciders, wine, or something sweet, Godfrey Run Farm Market and Cider Mill can offer you a plethora of options!

Castle Ice Cream and Castle Mini Golf

Castle Ice Cream and Castle Mini Golf

Location:

Castle Ice Cream and Castle Mini Golf are located at 7334 W Lake Rd, Fairview, PA 16415 and 7354 W Lake Rd, Fairview, PA 16415. We wanted to provide both addresses, but please know that these are literally right next to each other and basically connected by the picnic tables and giant dragon (for kids to play on) in between.

What to Do:

Castle Ice Cream offers several different flavors of ice cream, as well as sundaes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, soft serve, and smoothies. If you’re looking for something less sweet, they do offer hot pretzels, hot dogs, and chips. We really enjoyed our ice cream cones, someone went big this time and got a triple scoop! Their pricing for their ice cream is 1 scoop for $2.60, 2 scoops for $3.50, and 3 scoops for $4.10, in either a cone or a bowl. Soft serve is different, in size small, medium, and large ranging from $2.39-$3.49.

Orange Milk Shake

Castle Mini Golf is a professionally designed 18 hole course that allows you to have a friendly game or a major challenge with anyone you bring. The pricing is $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for kids (ages 5-12). Please note that adult supervision is required for kids to play. A fun fact about pricing is that the 2nd consecutive game of mini golf is 1/2 of a regular priced game! They will give you a pencil and a scorecard, so you can decide whether or not you’d like to keep track.

Practice green at the beginning of the course

Who Can Go:

Anyone can enjoy ice cream but there is a step up to get to the window in front to place your order. Also, keep in mind that you can order through the drive through if you would like.

Castle Mini Golf is actually one of the handicap accessible putt putt courses in Erie, PA, giving anyone the ability to enjoy a round of golf. The course gives a challenge to any age; we had people age ranged in our group from toddlers to 60’s. The course was played well by both, and someone even got a hole in one!

We also want to mention that because this course is handicap accessible, it’s also very easy to push a stroller through if you have a little who’s not quite ready to play yet.

Accessible Pathways between holes

Final Thoughts:

We had a lot of fun playing putt putt and getting ice cream in Fairview, PA. The course wasn’t too crowded when we went, but there were consistently people behind us coming in as we played. We would recommend splitting up your group if it’s very large to avoid backing up the course.

If you’re looking for mini golf and ice cream in Fairview, this is the place to be!
