Shumakes Sugar Shack Fall Open House

Shumake’s Sugar Shack Fall Open House

We love finding new things to do in the Erie area and new local businesses to support. We stumbled across an open house at a sugar shack in Albion, PA, and we just had to head out to see what it was all about!

Location:

Shumake’s Sugar Shack is located at 11401 Hilltop Road, Albion, PA 16401. It is a small wooden building. You can park right out front, and make your way into the store on the left side of the building if you’re facing it.

Unfortunately as we type this, there is one day left to attend the Fall Open House, and that is October 2, 2021 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. only. However, if it’s past that date and you’re reading this, keep reading to learn more about their products and how you can get those products without attending an open house!

Let us note that Shumake’s Sugar Shack is not open normally to the public; you can only visit during the open houses that they hold. If you do want to visit the sugar shack but can’t make it to this open house, there will be another one held in March, so be on the lookout for more information!

Property Description:

This sugar shack in Albion, PA is located at the front of a large homestead. You’ll see a small wooden building; that’s where you’ll head inside to check out all of the maple products! The inside of the sugar shack is so charming; it’s just an extremely inviting place all around, from the decorations and atmosphere inside of the building to the people that run this sugar shack where you can get local maple syrup in Erie County.

What to Do:

Once you park your car, head on into the Sugar Shack. Inside, you’ll find a taste testing station almost immediately in front of you as you turn to head toward the merchandise. There are plenty of maple products all around the shop, such as Maple Peanut Butter, Maple Popcorn, Maple Pecans, Maple Syrup, Flavor Infused Maple Syrup (many flavors), Coffee Maple Syrup (yes, you heard right), Lollipops, and Rock Candies. If you are a fan of maple, you need to head to this Fall Open House!

We got to try a lot while we were there, including some really yummy Maple Popcorn and Maple Cotton Candy. We also had an extremely delicious Maple Lemonade Slushy. We have to tell you guys, in all seriousness, it was some of the best lemonade we have ever had.

There’s also a hayride planned on the property, and you can press your own apple cider with their cider press! We did not press cider, but it was set up outside and it looked like a fun activity to try!

Who Can Go:

Bring the whole family to Shumake’s Sugar Shack! Everyone will love trying the maple products! The kids will love the cotton candy (so will the adults)!

You will be walking on grass to get to the building, so keep that in mind when it comes to pushing a wheelchair or stroller. We did not take our stroller in, as we didn’t think we would need it.

Final Thoughts:

The people that run Shumake’s Sugar Shack are so genuine and just all around nice, and although this was the first time we had ever met them, they treated us so kindly and were very inviting.

We cannot stress enough how wonderful it is to support and shop local, no matter what you’re looking for. You are not going to get the type of interactions we had at Shumake’s Sugar Shack at the grocery store, nor feel as good about the product you’re purchasing.

We know how easy it is to grab the store brand or the famous brand maple syrup (or anything else) when you’re walking down the aisles, but think about the impact and experience of going into a local farmers market (or in this case sugar shack) and picking out something locally grown, locally made, and supporting your neighbors. You know exactly where your product is coming from. It’s really awesome.
